The Northumberland Local Involvement Network is one of 150 LINks set up nationally to monitor, evaluate and influence change and improvement in health and social care services in Northumberland. It is a network of local people, organisations and groups that want to make care services better.

Q. WHAT DOES NORTHUMBERLAND LINk DO?

It makes a contribution to the planning and monitoring of local services by providing a channel for people to express their views, to become involved in looking at specific issues of concern to the community and make recommendations to suggest how to improve services.

Q. WHO CAN JOIN NORTHUMBERLAND LINk?

Individuals can be part of a LINk. Groups and organisations can also join. Everyone’s views matter. A LINk represents everyone in the community. Northumberland LINk will give the opportunity to say what they think is working well and what is not so good in Northumberland’s care services.

Q. HOW MUCH TIME WILL IT TAKE?

As much or as little as you wish.  It depends on the level of involvement you want to take on and how much time you would be able to commit to Northumberland LINk.

Q. WILL I GET PAID FOR IT?

No.  However, since you will be a volunteer, reasonable expenses will be paid and suppport and training will be available.

Q. WHAT ARE THE POWERS OF A LINk?

LINks can:

  • Visit and view places where health and adult social care services are provided.
  • Ask for information about those services and expect a response within a specific timescale.
  • Make recommendations for improving those services and expect a response within a given timescale.
  • Refer issues to the local Health Overview and Scrutiny Panel responsible for improving the health of local people and local health services.
