'TRANSFORMING DAYTIME SUPPORT FOR OLDER PEOPLE'
Northumberland Care Trust public consultation document - June 2009
Northumberland Care Trust held a public consultation on proposals for major changes to the way daytime support for older people is arranged. The proposed changes are Northumberland County Council's first step towards self-directed support, as part of their commitment to central and local governments' Transformation agenda as set out in the document PUTTING PEOPLE FIRST.

Public meetings will be held throughout June 2009 in Prudhoe, Ponteland, Hexham, Haltwhistle, Amble, Bedlington & Blyth.

There will be separate consultations with users of the service, and their family members and carers, and also with Northumberland Care Trust staff employed in the day care settings.

The consultation was considered at the following Northumberland LINk area meetings:
West area meeting- 11a.m. Tuesday, 16th June 2009, at Adapt (North East), Bluebird House, Hexham.
South East area meeting- 11.30a.m. Wednesday, 17th June 2009, at Blyth Community Enterprise Centre.
North area meeting- 12.30p.m. Tuesday, 30th June 2009, at Bell View, Belford.
The public consultation ran until 20th August, 2009.

Proposal by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for a new specialist emergency hospital in Cramlington
It is proposed to build a new specialist emergency care hospital, in the vicinity of Moor Farm roundabout,Cramlington, planned to open in 2012. It will be dedicated to treating patients seriously ill or injured and taken by ambulance, or asked to go immediately by their G.P. It is designed to provide specialist care for people who are very unwell, and once treatment is started and their conditon is improving, they would either be discharged home or transferred to their nearest general or community hospital.
Northumbria Healthcare Trust is engaging in consultation, and invite you to submit your views.

Morpeth Cottage Hospital ward relocation
Following a fire safety inspection at Morpeth Cottage Hospital, a ward was closed. Options are being explored to relocate this ward in the short term. More information here
